16 Hours | NAS 410 & SNT-TC-1A Compliant
The AMS Level 3 Magnetic Particle Testing Level II course is a focused 16-hour program designed for technicians who have already completed Level I training and are ready to advance their inspection capabilities. This course expands your understanding of MT theory, method selection, interpretation of indications, and application of acceptance criteria across aerospace, manufacturing, and critical-service components.
Training is fully aligned with NAS 410, ASNT SNT-TC-1A, and your employer’s Written Practice requirements. Students learn how to properly plan and perform MT examinations, evaluate results, and support decision-making within their NDT program.
Course Topics Include:
• Review of Level I fundamentals
• Advanced magnetization techniques (circular, longitudinal, multi-directional)
• Use of AC, DC, and permanent magnet equipment
• Wet fluorescent and dry powder applications
• Field strength, adequacy checks, and process control
• Identification and evaluation of discontinuities
• Relevant, nonrelevant, and false indication recognition
• Acceptance criteria and code/standard interpretation
• Proper documentation and reporting practices
At the end of the course, participants receive an AMS Level 3 training certificate documenting 16 hours of Level II MT instruction. Certification is ultimately issued by the student’s employer upon completion of required OJT and examinations in accordance with their governing Written Practice.
